Understanding Community Goals (UX CRUNCH)

Having founded and scaled two unique communities for major industries, I am an expert in researching and bespoke-tailoring event strategies to engage the unique drivers of your community.

Over 10 years, I have founded and scaled Europe’s largest UX, Product & Design community from a small local gathering of 12, to a 100,000+ global network, through a combination of meet-ups, summits, private leadership forums, and online engagement channels.

This independent community was formed as a reaction to the industry appetite for UX Researchers and Designers in 2015/16. Through research and focus groups, I identified two core goals for the community; education and career development. This was reflected in the goals of major brands I engaged with, who were keen to educate and hire.

As a consequence multiple event formats came together:

  • UX Crunch - monthly themed educational networking events with speakers, food and networking. This eventually split into Junior and Senior events to respond to the growing need for level-specific content

  • UX Crunch MEETS - ad-hoc events in strategic partnership at the offices of clients seeking talent. These showcase events highlighted company culture and projects, with bespoke strategies for assessing talent and kickstarting the talent process.

  • Job Fairs - with the growing demand for UX practitioners, I developed job fairs that connected companies with talent.

  • Workshops/Masterclasses - Meeting specific community requests with bespoke paid workshops for specialist training.

  • Specialist Conferences - full-day professional development conferences with talks, panels and workshops.

By consistently identifying and nurturing new leads from within the community, while effectively managing the P&L to showcase event ROI, I create sustainable engagement strategies that drive both longevity and growth.
